Learn to Crochet

Learn the basics of crochet:

  • Granny squares.
  • Flowers.
  • Crochet in the round.
  • Pretty edgings.
  • How to follow a pattern.

Start your own crochet projects.

Knitting with Kidsilk Haze

This workshop is all about getting the best results from this lovely yarn. Aimed at Kidsilk Haze novices as well as those who have tried it and who may already be addicted, the day covers a range of techniques. These include choosing the right cast-on for your project, knitting with beads and sequins, knitting embellishments and frills, and making gorgeous corsages and flowers.

The workshop is also about gaining confidence with the yarn and exploring it's wealth of creative opportunities.

Little Luxury Knits by Alison Crowther-Smith

Alison has written two knitting design books, 'Shibori Knitted Felt' and 'Little Luxury Knits', both published by Rowan. The latter is dedicated to luxury accessories in Kidsilk Haze. Her third book, 'Lace Knits: 21 delicate lace designs in Kidsilk Haze', will be published in 2011.

Finishing Techniques

Saturday 9th October

10 am – 3:30 pm

Give your knitting a professional look

You will learn:

  • Picking up stitches for a neat border
  • Stitching up garments
  • Buttonhole techniques
  • Short row working

Also bring along a project you are finishing off.

Sock Day

Saturday 13th November

10 am - 3 pm

Learn to knit socks with Mary

Morning session - we'll get started

Afternoon session - finish the mini sock

  • how to cast on to three or four needles
  • knit in the round, knit a heel flap
  • turn a heel
  • graft the toe.

Cost £50.

Includes needles and sock yarn, tea, coffee and cake. Please bring a packed lunch.
